Summary

A 2012 conference video presentation for the NSW Teachers Federation, consisting of still photography, videos, interviews and media reports. The central issue is public school funding in New South Wales and Australia, with governments pursuing privatisation and dismantling wages and working conditions in the sector through the Local Schools, Local Decisions legislation. Teachers are seen protesting in the streets and being interviewed about the importance of public education, union leaders address the threat to public education and highlight the Government’s attempt to save money by appointing “corporate raiders” to strip the system of funds. The union embarks on a bus tour of NSW to raise public awareness and angry teachers walk off the job.
